Audiosurf

This game is frankly just amazing. Its available thru steam for a mere $9.99, and of course there is a free demo. I played this demo once and was immediately hooked.

Its a simple concept applied brilliantly. They've taken the ability to get all of your songs on your computer, and turn them into racetracks where you drive along and collect various colored blocks. As your songs speed up, or change direction, so does the course.

Really a fantastic game, and I highly recommend giving the demo a try. It doesn't cost a dime, and the system stats for it are quite low. I can run it fine on a midrange laptop without issue.

I was attempting to check it out, but it seems "steam" needs to be installed first before you can play it. Would you mind explaining what the fundamentals of steam being worthy enough to have a place on my computer?

Steam is free. It in itself takes up like zilch space. It automatically keeps all your games you use thru it up to date. Etc. It initially installs with a setting to start automatically when windows starts, but you don't need that, so just change that after install. I use it, and have never had any complaints about Steam. It's nice not to have to worry about updates on the games, and to be able to access them all from one place. Plus there are many games that are Steam exclusives. Like Audiosurf.

Yep, you load up steam and log in, it will do it's whole connecty thing. You make sure you are in the "Store" tab, and then on the top left there will be a search box. Put in "AudioSurf" and it will come up with the game, and the free demo. There you have it!

Yeah, well. My power cord went out for some reason. I mean, I plug it in and everything and my light will be on for about 5 seconds before it dies. Power doesn't even reach my computer before then. So I think either its fried or something else happen within it. I'm afraid to pop it open to find out. But as soon as I can afford a new cord I'll check it out.

Man, that sure would suck. I suppose the equivalent would be the power supply dying in a desktop, but desktop power supplies are relatively universal so it'd be easy to get a replacement quickly. Good luck!

I use a laptop and they have universal cords over here at the commissary on base. The problem is is that they're relatively expensive. Especially for college folk like us. ^_^

Yea, laptop cords have always been as or more expensive than a desktop supply, primarily because they have to pack nearly the same juice into a much smaller package. And they have to have components that will deal with the heat of being in a closed, no ventilation environment.
