Mario Cart Wii

Have any of you guys had a chance to play this? I've seen the commercials for it, but I kinda question how well it will work. I'm very tuned into the analog stick controls for mario cart, and I wonder how this will effect it's drivability.

Mario Cart Wii

I fear it may end up a significant downgrade from Double Dash. DD was a far more innovative release, and Mario Kart Wii loses a lot in trying to go back to being more traditional. Plus many of its tracks are less interesting.

As far as controls, I think they're a little gimmicky. And the Wii Wheel is silly. Like EGM says. You could shove your remote into a bagel and get the same results. I'll just get Double Dash someday. Cheaper and more fun.

I hear that you can supposedly use it with the nunchuck and get the nice and preferred use of the analog stick that way, instead of dealing with the wheel. I've also heard that they took out the best parts of battle mode.

It wouldn't surprise me if they nerfed battle mode. Like I said, I'd rather play Double Dash. And lo, I can play it on the Wii. Go figure.

Not one for any Mario Kart... but the wii version is actually pretty fun. The controllers aren't all that bad at all actually. I mean, I wouldn't be getting it for me if I had a wii, but that's not to say that the game doesn't deliver some innovative features.

Do tell, I've always loved the Mario Cart installments. I have a wii. Give me a reason to give all my money to my Japanese gaming overlords

I think you'll particularly enjoy playing it without the wheel. Even without it. The clever use of the remote is still present. Game play might seem difficult. But give it about 15 minutes and you start to get used to it. The variety of weapons hasn't seemed to have changed much since the Nintendo DS installment. But nonetheless I had fun racing against my Korean buddy, Mykal. Ultimately I'd say you should rent it first. But I don't know of any places in Cle Elum that would rent out a video game other than the 1 video game store that's in town.
