Good News

Postby Fierce Omen on February 9, 2009, 11:39 AM

So I'm in the military now, I ship out June 17th, but that's not the good news. The good news is I'm coming home back to Washington! lol, I won't be living in Cle Elum though, I'll actually be in Tacoma on FT. Lewis, where I'll start my FS training for a promotion. I'll get in as a PFC if I get through it all right. But that doesn't mean I can come down to visit every now and again. Alright guys, hope this place starts picking up more often then it has been. I'll keep you guys posted in any case. Omen out.

Thats sweet that you'll be back in Washington! However, it's Tacoma... I don't know how you feel about that place, but I haven't particularly enjoyed it the times I've been there... So what does this "FS" training actually "train" you for? Foot Soldier, Flight Simulator, Foot Scratcher, Funny Sounds, Futuristic Seismology? Forgive my not knowing a ton of military stuff, so also, what does PFC mean? We look forward to hearing more about your adventures.

FS stands for Future Soldier. Basically its not as high tech as its sound. Basically rounds of PT (physical training), and courses where they teach you how to read and navigate maps and coordinates. You know, little things to get you ready for Basic and AIT (Boot camp and school for you MOS (Job)). PFC stands for "Private First Class" which is E-3, of the rank levels. By two years I'll go to a board in an attempt to hit E-5 which will be a Sgt. or Sergeant. And maybe somewhere along the lines I'll go Airborne just for kicks. :) Provided I'm not deployed to Iraq. If so though I'll be sure to put up pictures. Well, I'll put up pictures any way. lol

Fun stuff. Though, be careful where you take pictures. My buddy got chastised a few times for unwittingly using his video camera where he wasn't supposed to. Like the airport...

Yes keep you wits about you and in your head. They are more useful there than splattered on the road. Any way we need to get together sometime while your still here and go have a beer. There's a local brew called Mac and Jacks that's really good and the brewery is literally just down the road from my house.

only problem is he hates beer and won't touch most alcohol. I've got him to try some but he doesn't like much.

Not when it comes to vodka. It's hard to hide that taste. And it hits hard.

we'll give him a... what's it called... where you soak a whole bunch of fruit in alcohol so it still tastes like fruit but has the alcohol bite to it.

Why cant everyone be happy drunks. We don't need any more "I'm going to fucking kill your ass, and then serve you a lawsuit on a silver platter" drunks.

Truth be told I don't think there are many of those kinds around. Most of the unhappy drunks who beat the crap out of other unhappy drunks wake up to nothing more then a black eye or broken tooth wondering what the hell happened in the first place.

I got a good drink. Take 2-3 shots of Firefly Sweet Tea vodka put it in a glass and fill the rest with lemonade. It is bitter-sweet and tastes good enough to drink a lot of it and has enough kick to flatten ya after a while.

I could down 15 and still walk a straight line. Trust me. I downed a whole bottle of blue zombie and three shots of jack daniel, and still had enough soberness to say a clear sentence. lol

So it's May 26, 2009 and I have approximately 22 days until I fly down to Kentucky for 9 weeks in Ft. Knox (aka Hell on Earth). Needless to say I'm excited as hell to go. I think this may have been either the worst or best decision I've ever made in my life. And I'm pretty sure it'll be a little of both, but being able to do the awesome stuff makes the other crap seem forgiving. (Like the whole war thing. lol, which I probably wouldn't mind either if I HAD to do it). In any case. The countdown is there. And I just thought I'd let you guys know because it'll be that long before you'll see my face on the internet again. Granted I have time to do so while I'm in AIT after basic. :P

You have to pretty much go in knowing it's not going to be fun for the most part, it's what you do that you have to decide whether its fun or not. Technically basic is nothing but yelling and exercising. If you break it down into the simplest of categories. :P
